What is effort?

Effort means that you try hard to do something, even if it’s difficult. It’s
about putting in your full energy and not giving up.

Giving 100%.

Giving your best effort in every practice and game, even when things are not going your way.

Showing Mental and Physical Effort.

Using both your mind and your body to do something. Soccer requires as much thinking as it does running.

Keeping a Positive Attitude.

A natural part of Learning is failure. Mastering new skills means that you keep a positive attitude and you keep working hard, even when things aren’t going well.

Mental Skills

Mental Skills

Growth Mindset – Psychologists have learned that most people have one of two mindsets. They either believe that learning is naturally hard and involves failure, or they think people are born “smart” or have “natural talent”. People who think they need to practice a lot to learn something new have a Growth Mindset. People with a fixed mindset believe that working hard and struggling are signs of failure, and they get frustrated and want to quit when things get hard.

We want to encourage all our players to have a Growth Mindset which will help them give effort even when things get tough. Failure means you are one step closer to learning or mastering a new skill!

Did You Know that when you are practicing, you are actually making your brain bigger? That’s right because a substance called myelin wraps around the neurons in the brain, making the signal stronger.

“Failure means you are one step closer to learning or mastering a new skill!”
